Do they serve good alcohol beverages?
The worst service I have ever experienced here. Ordered a bottle of wine... Waited and waited, food came still no wine... Another 10 minutes finally I have wine I guess to drink not enjoy with my meal which was way over priced for the portions. I suppose this is going to be the new normal... Line manager seemed completely unbothered with my feedback, oh and all the while the owner is sitting having dinner and wine while service goes in the toilet.
MoreVery good lunch ! I had scallops And gumbo. Delish👌
I’m a regular. Never really ordered steak, especially togo. Well tonight I did and it was outstanding. Thanks for great dinner.
MoreLove this place! Great variety of food, fresh ingredients great service, along with live music outside and a great bar! What more can you ask for. Highly recommend Ballyhoos, our favorite spot for dinner in town.
MoreCould not be happier that i picked this restaurant for our date night! The food was so amazing best tuna n grouper i've ever had even at beachside or 5 star seafood restaurants, and was accompanied with an amazing server, Nicole, who was just as phenomenal making it true perfection in a much needed night out! Bf's cuban sandwich was great as well! Ty Ballyhoo a memory we'll never forget and can't wait to come back! Worth the long drive to find a gem of an experience!
MoreHad chicken and noodle soup.the special. Looked wonderful. Tasted like it was made with left over lemon herb soup. Ate some chicken and left it. Ugh. Everything else was wonderful as usual. Chefs mess up once in a while. Our waitress was charming and helpful. We will be back as usual. David
MoreWe always eat at ballyhoos when we come to gville and it’s just as good as always. The fish tacos were wonderful, the sushi rolls were really good and the drinks were on happy hour prices. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend were the New Orleans bbq shrimp which weren’t that good. The service was good and the boys loved the deserts. There isn’t much better than sitting outside with a drink in your hand and listening to live music in Gville.
MoreTeriyaki Tuna, one of the specialties of the evening. Chelsea recommended the Shrimp Rockefeller as an appetizer and she was oh so right. Delicious. The drinks were good and the service was super friendly.
MoreHard to really rate this place because we were here with a large group but waitress was great! Tableside guacamole was good but chips were stale. Firecracker shrimp was amazing and so was the grilled avocado! These 2 things are a must try! Rest of the service was very slow!
MoreI have heard so many good things about Ballyhoo. But dear lord was it gross. The food was terribly greasy, made me sick. The person I dined with had to send her food back, the second round was not much better. I could only eat one of my french fries. I'm not very picky and rarely complain but wow, this was not a good experience at all. As you can see in the photo this is all the food we could not eat. 🤢 Waitress was informed but didn't seem to care. Just my and my friends opinion but neither of us will be back.
MoreGreat food love the Rockefeller shrimp and oysters. Cider plank salmon black beans and yellow rice was phenomenal.
MoreSo this place was amazing. The gumbo was super. A great selection of sushi, sea food, burgers, and gator. Our waiter was very good. They had a full house and he treated us like we were the only customers in the restaurant
MoreOutstanding service at the bar. Best tuna tacos we ever had so fresh and flavorful. Great atmosphere...
MoreCedar plank Salmon was terrific, service and decor are great too
Blue steak salad is delicious. Sushi is good. Great place for seafood. Great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Staff has always been excellent.
MoreThe gator was great. The atmosphere was great. The drinks were great. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town. Best place to eat in Gainesville.
MoreIt's been several years since I've come through this side of Gainesville (since college) but I was hungry driving through this evening and they had a fresh made guacamole one the menu. It was fantastic! My server, Brooke was also very attentive and a real pleasure, and they had a great guy on the patio outside playing live music on "Country Sunday." He was also with the visit.
MoreNice place for casual dining. I would highly recommend the blacked tilapia tacos. Good service. Second time in Gainesville and second time here. I made it a point to return.
MoreOur waiter was so nice today. Food was yummy love being outside. Clean.
We just came through Gainesville on our way back to Georgia (I’m a gator girl and love to go by the swamp whenever I can 😁) and we stopped at Ballyhoo because they were one of the only places still open during the pandemic and it was AMAZING!! We had the firecracker shrimp and blackened grouper sandwich, both were delicious! We will be back for sure!
MoreWe had a great time at this joint!!!!! The food is great the service was knowledgable and fast. The overall atmosphere from the time we entered to the time we left was laid back and comfortable.Huge parking lots, easy access from the main road what more could you want....And heck..... there's even a Regal Theater sharing the parking lot .....
MoreThe vibe and food was amazing! Our serve Tommy was also incredible. He definitely knows what he is talking about in regards to the menu. Live music every night with a menu mixed with seafood, pasta, steaks, tacos and more. It is the perfect location for someone who is always very indecisive like me. The ambiance is perfect. We will DEFINITELY be back!
MoreBad food my side was cold and cooked wrong the scampi sauce had a gelitin like texture the salad was warm and yes I was outside but it was warm when I first got it low price low quality
MoreGreat food and fun atmosphere. Very key west vibes. Got the shrimp po boy. Was amazing.
MoreIt's always great, including the service. Just enough variety on the menu to make it not seem they're all over the place, but everything we have ordered has been excellent. A true recommend! 👍
MoreJustin is an excellent waiter. The food was so delicious and served fresh and hot. The banana foster dessert was out of this world.
MoreThe menu had many great choices. I was in for lunch so we tried the chips and Avacado dip and it was amazing and prepared fresh at our table. The waiter was very attentive and kept our glasses filled.
MoreLoved the filet Spedini. Loaded baked potato soup was great. The mashed potatoes were very bland. You can tell the fries are cooked in the same oil as their fish. My wife ordered snow crab and I would swear there was 2 pounds and only $25. And our server, maybe Barbara (she was Serbian and I am not sure how to spell her name), was great.
MoreWas a pretty decent visit.we both got fish and chips ..both were a little over cooked.very crunchy.but the insides were good..anyways glad to see alot of businesses opening up and allowing dine in experiences..
MoreHad a great time here, and the restaurant followed covid restrictions really well. Our server Eric was great!! Definitely a place to come back to!
MoreLovely place for a chill night. The waiters are very kind and the food is always delicious. Generous portions of very well prepared food! The only issue is that it's kind of dark there... Some people like that though.
MoreExcellent food. Very popular with supporters of the President. Their service is exceptional. The local beers on tap taste really well. Try Ballyhoo Brew during Happy Hour. They are supportive of Gainesvilles LGBT Festival in October 2019. Very nice wait staff. Food is presented quickly and hot.
MoreThe food, the atmosphere, the jazz band ....all are awesomeA must place
The best place to eat and drink in all of Gainesville. Highly recommend you go here when in town. You won't be disappointed!
MoreMy family came 3 hrs and stopped to get the shrimp Rockefeller we had a waiter named Harry who above and beyond made my girls day they made airplanes out of the paper menus and he had a airplane contest with them it's the small things u appreciate
Morecame back to this place 13 years later..use to come all the time while a student at UF...and it still has the best cedar plank salmon and key lime pie. Love being able to count on places
MoreGreat food. Very good wait staff. On the pricey side but worth it.
Ballyhoos has such a great environment.Very cozy and inviting. Having both inside and outside seating to suit your mood. A great menu of different kinds of foods and they have amazing sushi!! You won't be disappointed!!
MoreShrimp and Grits as Chelsea recommended... AWESOME. She recommended the potato salad with it, another winner. Stopped here on a whim and might need a rest stop, the drinks were good, service was top notch, and you cannot ask for better food. We'll be back.
MoreI ordered the firecracker shrimp, buffalo wings, Brussel sprouts and everything was verygood. I would recommend this place for good food, good drinks and nice vibes!
MoreFood and service are excellent! I highly recommend the firecracker shrimp tacos😋
MoreFood was great, the chicken quesadillas a little dry but the flavor was awesome. I was going off the prices online which weren't correct on the receipt. Online it says the gator bites are 12.95 they rung up 13.95 and the quesadilla said 9.95 rang up 10.95. Bot a big deal but might want to fix that.
MoreArrived about 3 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon, they were not busy at all. Took 10 minutes to get seated. After waiting an additional 10 minutes after we were seated, we watched 2 other tables get seated after us. The waiter came and took drink orders from the other 2 tables but never our table. About the 15 minutes mark of seating, 25 minutes total, still no drink order or any acknowledgement by the staff, the waiter brought the other drinks to the other tables(the ones seated after my family) made eye contact with me, still nothing. My family of 4 got up & left with no one to stop us or ask if they could help. We are from outta town for a Gator softball game & was looking forward to our first Ballyhoo experience, sorry it was a disappointment & a dud.
MoreExpensive but, worth every penny. Food is spectacular. Gluten free options too.
Waitress was great--but we ordered calamari &came out cold also shrimp/grits was ok
MorePortions are large! Food was ok and atmosphere was alright. It was very loud.
Always have their firecracker shrimp tacos and did so again. Always great. Nice kick in flavor. Ordered cheese grits for my side and was pleasantly surprised...don't normally like them but wanted something different.
MoreMy husband and I went to Ballyhoo's for lunch today for the first time. Tommy greeted us as soon as we walked in, he was also our waiter and gave us excellent service. Tommy never let our glasses go empty, the food was excellent from the firecracker shrimp to the Spedini the tenderloin tips melted in our mouth, the garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and full of flavor, the broccoli was crisp and had great flavor. We had a very enjoyable experience and will be back.Thank you Tommy for making lunch experience a great one!
MoreFood was great our server (Eric) i believe was his name was great made great memories with our kids.
More
